Urban Planning and Criminal Law

We deal in the legal treatment of the conversion of certain administrative illegalities into criminal illegalities, particularly those related to land planning, protection of the historical heritage and environmental protection.

From the coming into force of the new Criminal Code on 24 May 1996, the new specification of criminal offenses having their origin in urban planning, in land planning and in protected areas, cases which until said time were included under the sanctioning of Administrative Law, become incorporated into the catalogue of property protected under penalty of criminal law, with all that this implies.

  • Criminal treatment of sanctions against the execution of constructions or buildings without a license.
  • Crimes against protected areas and abusive building constructions.
  • Crimes against the historical heritage and the environment.
